This will remove the write protection for this booted session only. Do not connect evidence to the computer during this boot session, because it will be mounted and may be written to.

  5. (OPTIONAL) If you want to verify that the command above worked, you can type ls /etc/udev/rules.d to verify that the file 50-writeblocker.rules is no longer present, but this is not be a necessary step
  6. Type exit to close the Terminal window
  7. Insert the USB device you wish to use for Raptor. Please note that all data on this device will be permanently deleted during this process.
  8. Open the Raptor Toolbox
  9. Using the Raptor Toolbox, Wipe the USB device
  10. Using the Raptor Toolbox, Format the device as FAT32 with name RAPTOR (this name is required to utilize the logging features of Raptor)
  11. From the top left menu bar select System -> Administration -> USB Startup Disk Creator
  12. Make sure the Source disc image points at your Raptor CD
  13. Make sure the Disk to use is set to the RAPTOR partition on your USB device
  14. Under “When starting up from this disk, documents and settings will be:”, select “Discarded on shutdown, unless you save them elsewhere
